Shiny light yellow colour with golden reflections. Lively aromas of ripe exotic fruit and yellow blossom accompanied by fine impressions of shaved wood, fine spices, toast, almonds and a hint of honey. The short wood ageing is perfect in support and allows the fruit to shine at all times. Nicely balanced on the palate while on the finish its complexity comes out a little more.
The refined wood aging guarantees a wine that is quite versatile when paired with food. Serve it with grilled or fried fish, shellfish, poultry, Risotto, salads with chicken or vegetarian dishes.
- climate
-
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is determined more than in the rest of Rioja by the Atlantic Ocean. Protection from that same northern influence by the Cantabrian mountains. Combined with high altitude vineyards, this guarantees short but very hot summers cooled by Northern winds and long mild winters with plenty of precipitation.
- soil
-
As the name of Las Levantadas suggests, these are the highest-lying vineyards of the estate (over 60 years old). They were planted fairly recently (2010), with their lime - clay subsoil and altitude of 600m, offer the ideal terroir to produce a white wine of exceptional quality.
- vinification
-
Viura 55%, Tempranillo blanco 10% and Malvasia 35% are harvested and fermented separately. No malolactic fermentation. Classic cold fermentation in inox vats after which the blend is blended and the wine rests further in wooden barrels for 4 months to give it a more culinary style.
