Beautiful, dark, ruby red colour. In the nose, we find lots of red and black fruit supported by a nice toasted wood touch and a hint of vanilla. We find the same fruit on the palate with impressions of forest fruits, plums, figs and black cherries. More complex notes of caramel, vanilla, cedar and spice emerge in all modesty, letting the fresh fruit shine at all times. The finish confirms and further challenges the palette. An overall and innovative interpretation of what tomorrow's Rioja could stand for.
This modern style Rioja is ideal to pair with grilled meat dishes, aged beef, fine game like roebuck and all kinds of tapas or Pinxtos.
- climate
-
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is determined more than in the rest of Rioja by the Atlantic Ocean. Protection from that same northern influence by the Cantabrian mountains. Combined with high-altitude vineyards, this guarantees short but very hot summers cooled by Northern winds and long mild winters with plenty of precipitation.
- soil
-
The vineyards are a mix of the estate's different terroirs to ensure a complete style of Tempranillo. Aged over 20 years and at altitudes ranging between 350 and 500m, they consist mainly of chalk and clay. A perfect representation of the entire estate.
- vinification
-
100% Tempranillo. Grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected. Classic fermentation under controlled temperature follows. Malolactic fermentation on inox. The different vintages are blended and further rested on a mix of different vintages of French oak barrels (225 litres).
