Beautiful dark red color. Intense nose with delicate floral notes and lots of red fruit that manifests itself first. Then follow hints of vanilla, licorice and coffee. The taste is nice and full and at the same time refined. The blend of French and American oak is nicely integrated, letting the luscious fruit dominate. The finish is medium to long.
This 'Roble' tastes very good with savory meat dishes or grilled beef. Ideal with barbecue or Espetada so.
- climate
-
The climate in Toro is fairly extreme. Long, warm and dry summers. The winters can be very cold and in between teh seasons there is very limited rainfall. Temperature differences can also be large at night. Together with the poor soils, they determine the unique character of Toro.
- soil
-
Alluvial sediments deposited by the river. Generally poor sandy soils with a layer of clay at depth that retains the rare moisture.
- vinification
-
The vineyard is from 1944 with very old vines which are picked by hand. 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo). Fermentation takes place under low temperatures in stainless steel with a long maceration and pigeage twice a day. The wine then matures for 8 months in French and American oak.
