Nomoya Wines - (South Africa)

Nomoya Wines logo

Nomoya literally means “With spirit” or “Spirited”, which says a lot about the (young) people behind this ambitious wine project. Talia Engelbrecht, the winemaker, personifies joy, enthusiasm and perfection. She provides a young, innovative and experimental drive to the Nomoya team. Together with the more experienced winemaker and marketer, Michela Sfiligoi and agronomist, Atilio Dalpiaz, they form the perfect team that makes Nomoya arguably one of Swartland's most promising wine estates, embodying one of the many wisdoms that Nelson Mandela has taught to South African people “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up!” Their first years were an immediate hit. The wines are made from monocepages of various South-African and European grape varieties. They are fermented separately in vats made of different materials (concrete, stainless steel and wooden barrels) in order to obtain a different character and style each time.

Clear pale color with yellow tinges. Fruit driven style with aromas of apricot, peach, ripe pear and a hint of pineapple. This is abundantly confirmed in the mouth. Full, exotic fruit and a mild acidity that provides support and structure. The final is also nice and sunny.

Crimson color. Red berries, cherries, soft spices and an earthy undertone dominate the nose. Medium body where red fruit also manifests itself, accompanied by fine noble tannins and a pleasant acidity that keeps the whole nicely in balance. Wood components come last and lead in the blissfully long finish.

Beautiful, bright light yellow color with golden hues. Aromas of green apple, white pear and lime zest accompanied by lightly toasted flavors of fresh wood and vanilla. Despite the wood touch, the wine remains nice and fresh and elegant. In the wonderfully clean finish, the more complex tones come to the fore and determine the taste that lingers in the mouth.

Beautiful light, golden yellow color. The nose is lush and exotic. An exciting mix of citrus, green apple, pineapple, floral notes and fine herbs. Wonderfully mineral and exciting in the mouth. Complexity again goes hand in hand with a refreshing acidity that provides a nice balance. The barrel aging gives the wine more depth, culinary properties and Burgundian allures.
