Domaine du Clos Roussely - (France)

Domaine du Clos Roussely logo

The estate, located in Angé, has belonged to the Roussely family for four generations. At the beginning of this century, Vincent took over the estate from his father. He immediately adapted it to contemporary needs and concerns. The estate spans 9 hectares of vineyards on a soil of tuff, limestone, and clay, which are biodynamically worked and lie in the shadow of the famous Château de Chenonceaux. Only ecologically responsible and locally sourced fertilizers and sprays are used. It is believed that the natural balance of the vineyard must not be disturbed. This ecological concern extends to the cellars, which were entirely excavated in the tuff bedrock. This volcanic rock gives the grapes their unique and mineral character and is an ideal insulating material for digging cellars. Every wine at Roussely is, therefore, a unique and as natural as possible expression of its terroir, showcasing a pronounced mineral and pure character. 80% of the grapes are Sauvignon, which finds its ideal soil and environment here.

purple with a ruby hue. The nose gives aromas of red fruit, like strawberry and small ripe cherries; then evolves towards a spicier character. The palate is relatively large for this varietal with soft and silky tannins, giving warm, rich flavors of red fruit and gingerbread spiciness. The finish gives a long-lasting impression of lightly spiced cherry pie.
